Pastor Fonis, a Ghanaian gospel minister now based in the United States, was born in Kotobabi, Greater Accra Region, as the third of five children. Her early life in Ghana, while challenging, was where her spiritual journey began. At just six years old, she was introduced to Christianity through a local club and the encouragement of a supportive Christian community. Though she was young and didn't fully grasp Christianity, she felt a deep assurance of Jesus's love.
Pastor Fonis pursued her education at Aggrey Memorial School and the University of Ghana, where she earned a degree in Business Administration. Her involvement with the Scripture Union (SU) during secondary school saw her rise to music director by Form 4, laying the foundation for her lifelong passion for music ministry. She furthered her studies with an MBA from Morgan State University and a Master’s in Divinity from Winning Grace Bible Institute in Baltimore.
Music has always been a core aspect of Pastor Fonis's ministry. She began singing at nine and was influenced by gospel artists such as Daughters of Glorious Jesus, Tagoe Sisters, and Stella Dugan. Her musical journey has been both a personal and communal experience, initially focused on local ministry before she felt a calling to reach a wider audience.
Upon moving to the U.S., Pastor Fonis met her husband, and together they have four children. In 2004, they co-founded Word of Life Chapel International, where she serves as an associate pastor while also working full-time as a Human Resource Officer.
One of Pastor Fonis's notable songs, "YAHWEH," was inspired during a Sunday morning prayer. The song developed gradually as she sought divine guidance. Her dedication to music and ministry continues to inspire and impact lives both locally and internationally.
