SARAH JAKES ROBERTS RECOUNTS HOW SHE HAS MATURED

Sarah Jakes is the beloved daughter of the world renowned Pastor, Bishop T. D. Jakes and now the leader of Potter's House church which was founded by the father.

Just like everyone else, there comes a time where one has to make some sacrifices in order to get to the next level.

Sarah shared an aspect of her life which she thinks she has matured therefore denying her pleasures for the sanctity of the calling and office she is occupying now in a Facebook post.  She wrote.

"Everything in me said, “Make it fashion!” Crop the jacket. Pencil the skirt. Bedazzle the lapel. But my spirit was like, “Make it not about you.”

So I laid aside my style, personality, and flavor to honor the sanctity of the moment. As I’m maturing I’m beginning to believe that authenticity must be married with wisdom.

I am authentically the girl who loves bundles, highlighter, palazzo pants, high waists, cropped tees and all things style. I am also authentically the girl who desires to honor the anointing of God on my life.

I guess I could’ve made it fashion. I guess I could’ve jazzed it up, but it didn’t feel appropriate. I believe that mastery for me is knowing how to prioritize my authenticity.

I’m still gonna serve up some slays, but I’m also going to honor when it’s not about that at all. I can do boffum and it won’t always happen at the same time. I guess that’s the foreign and familiar way.

She ended by asking some thought provoking questions which some us are not privy to but can change perception of how we see her. Aside her anointing, you can't take away her sense of  humour too.

Did y’all know that folks still sell pantyhose? Took me back to my childhood, but this time I didn’t have any runs when the night was over. You can’t tell me I’m not adulting.
