THE CHURCH IS NOT A CLUBHOUSE -- Pastor (Mrs) Ifeanyi Adefarasin

Life can be full of excuses and justifications especially when it involves "dressing". We often hear excuses similar to "God looks at our hearts, not our clothes".

God cares about us so much to the extent of addressing how we are meant to dress. The principle of modesty was spoken about in 1Timothy 2:9-10 & 1 Peter 3: 3-4.

Indecent dressing is now regarded as a trend. The rate at which it's growing seems to be alarming in this age and it is right for the Church to speak about it since one of the purposes of the church is for the glorification of God by the saints with their soul, spirit and body.

It is said that how we dress is how we will be addressed. Modesty is a lifestyle, it is not just a style of clothing. It is about living in such a way that all our actions, including the way we dress point people to God instead of ourselves. It is said in 1 Corinthians 6:19-20 that our body is God's temple. It is meant to give Him glory.

“If you cannot go for a job interview dressed like that, why would you dress that way to the house of God? The Church is not a clubhouse.”

What do you make of this?
