Mr Deg
For 35 years, over 12,775 days, I've devoted myself to the ministry. As an artist, I've poured my soul into 14 recordings for 33 out of the 35 years. My journey has taken me all around the world. My frequent flyer account telling the tale with nearly 7 million actual miles flown with Delta Airlines, landing me in the top 1% of flyers.
I was blessed to be the founding pastor of a thriving congregation in Grand Rapids, MI, and now the Senior Pastor of a thriving new congregation in Texas. I've seen success as a business owner, yet with all of that, my most precious role has been being a single dad.
In all this time, I've rarely paused. I've poured out, but seldom have I allowed myself to be filled again. Jesus, the greatest teacher of all, knew the importance of pausing. He often withdrew to lonely places and prayed (Luke 5:16). His rhythm of life was a dance of giving and receiving, serving and rejuvenating.
To all my young preachers, recording artists, and dreamers who aspire to travel the world preaching or selling millions of records, take this piece of wisdom from someone who's been on that road… Remember to take breaks. Don't just pour out, allow yourself to be poured into as well. It's not just beneficial, it's vital for your holistic health.
