Gospel music trio, Daughters of Glorious Jesus, have shared a remarkable story behind the recording of their song, 'Onokwafo Nyame'. In a recent interview with Roselyn Felli on Prime Morning on Joy Prime, they revealed a near-death experience that inspired the song.
Lead singer, Cynthia Agyare Appiadu, recounted how she nearly drowned in the Black Volta river in the Northern Region while working on a project. The canoe she was in sank, and everyone fell into the river. While others were quickly rescued, she was trapped underwater, rolling up and down five times, defying the usual three times experienced by those who are drowning.
In desperation, she prayed to God, "Father, you didn't bring me here to kill me. I came here for your work, save my life." Miraculously, she was rescued by the people around, who were amazed by her survival. The chief of the town was so impressed that he asked how she was saved, and they credited it to Jesus Christ.
This experience inspired her to write 'Onokwafo Nyame'. Moreover, she made a vow to do something significant for God if she reached age 50. True to her word, she started a church building project and a transformation center for orphans when she turned 50, which are currently ongoing.
This powerful testimony showcases the trio's dedication to their faith and their music, which continues to inspire and transform lives.
