THE 'DANGERS' OF KNEELING DOWN TO PROPOSE TO A WOMAN

It is well noted that the trends for proposals in this current generation is way different from the days of old. As some will see no big deal about a man kneeling to propose to the love of his life, some also take exception just like the renowned Nigerian marriage counselor Allison.

It is just right to listen to him why he takes his stand since learning is an everyday thing.

The question someone might ask, is God interested in a man kneeling to propose or not? What is the spiritual implications? What's the physical implications? Does it really make a difference in the long haul? Is that the way it should be?

Well all the above questions and many more will be addressed in this write up by the man of God.

"A man should never kneel to propose to a woman, it's not a part of our African Culture, the woman will abuse the privilege and dishonour him, kneeling to propose will reduce your respect in the sight of your wife."

This and other tales by moonlight are totally unnecessary discuss when it comes to the sustenability of the marriage covenant.

Kneeling does not determine the joy or sadness of any marriage, the character of the couple does!

A man who is not respected without a ring, even if he proposes to a woman siting on the throne like a chief or standing on a rock, he will still not be respected by that woman.

If a woman does not honour you naturally as a function of her character, waybilling the ring to her won't command any honour on your part.

Many components of a 'white' wedding is not a part of our African Culture; the bridal shower, bachelor's night, bridal train, etc.  The whole concepts of a wedding party with dresses and suits is not our culture, once dowry is paid to parents a marriage has happened. Yet we do them to fulfill all righteousness and to make that day memorable, especially when it does not corrupt our walk with God as believers.

Dear Cultural man, if you woman does not respect you she doesn't respect you. And as a free counsel, if, I repeat again, if you are ever in doubt of her love, respect and total submission to you, it's already proof that you are about to make the costliest mistake of your life, it's proof you are about to marry the wrong woman. Delay that proposal sir, look for somewhere to drink chill malt so you can think well.

To a believer, and I say this not as directly referenced in the Bible, but as an Apostle lead of the Spirit, having the authority to teach on relationship, marriage and family life; kneeling to propose to a woman holds certain significance:

1. It is an outward sign of a man's inward grace of submission to his woman. Yes, loving your wife as Christ loves the Church is the first law of submission; laying down your life for another.

2. It is a humble proof of his declaration of interest to take you as bone of his bone, flesh of his flesh.

3. It is a reflection of how much he treasures and values you, letting go of his pride and ego.

4. Kneeling to propose to a woman is a servant posture. Christ says anyone who wants to be the head amongst you must first carry a servant mindset.

5. If anyone can have the right to demand that a woman aligns her dreams, goals and even destiny to him, he had better be doing so on his knees. It is an earnest indication of his want for you!

Again, kneeling to propose does not truncate our relationship with God. It does not negatively or even positively influence the outcome of any marriage. And it certainly doesn't reduce or increase your respect in the sigh of your woman.

If you don't mind your man sitting to propose that's okay, these are harmless extras to a marriage covenant.

Respect is earned over time by practice, not performed at the mall!

Please work on the marriage itself, prepare for seasons that really matter, when push comes to shore no one will remember who knelt down and who stood up. Focus less on things that adds no economic or spiritual value to your marriage
