If we talk of LATTER, then it means there is a FORMER. Life at times throw some challenges at us and we feel like the glory days are over. According to our text, the Lord sent word of comfort and reassurance to the remnants of Judah that came back from an exile that He will not only restore their glory, but the latter shall be greater than the former. Judah was repeatedly warned by God that if they don’t repent, they will be taken into captivity. And because they didn’t yield, the doomsday finally came upon them, but God in His mercies remembered His covenant with their fathers and restored their remnants to their land of inheritance.
When we run through rough patches in life, we tend to think maybe we have been forgotten by God. You feel like every other person is giving testimonies except you. But it is established that the faithfulness of God is sure. He cannot deny Himself or alter the word that has gone forth from His mouth. V 6-9 “For thus says the LORD of hosts: Once more (it is a little while) I will shake heaven and earth, the sea and dry land; and I will shake all nations, and they shall come to the Desire of All Nations, and I will fill this temple with glory, says the LORD of hosts. The silver is Mine, and the gold is Mine, says the LORD of hosts. The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former, says the LORD of hosts. And in this place I will give peace, says the LORD of hosts”.
The Lord does not dwell in manmade houses again because our bodies are the temple of the Holy Spirit. The Lord send His word to you today that He will shake the heavens, the earth, land, sea, and the nations to gather the treasures of them to fill your life which is the temple of the Lord. Ecclesiastes 7:10 “Do not say, why were the former days better than these? For you do not inquire wisely concerning this”. Don’t write off your future yet, hold on to the promises of God for your life. Joseph had such experience in life and it looked like God was setting him up for hard knocks. But his trials were just a test of faith and in the end, his glory shone to the astonishment of the naysayers! If God did it for him, He will do yours too. All the people that have written you off will come back to celebrate with you in Jesus’ name.
