Mr Deg

Dear Younger Self,

As you sit under the large canopy tree in the afternoon, wondering about your future, I want you to know that you are not alone. I remember the struggles you faced when you couldn't afford to go back to school, and your parents were away. But I also remember your resilience and determination.

Firstly, I want to thank you for not giving up on us and for staying focused on your academic and professional ambitions. You believed that a better future was possible, even when the road ahead seemed uncertain.

Your father, who passed away on Father's Day 2022, was extremely proud of you and your younger siblings. He taught you valuable lessons that have stayed with you, and I'm grateful for that.

This challenging experience will shape your perspective and strengthen your faith. You are learning firsthand what it's like for many young African children who face struggles every step of the way. This understanding will fuel your desire to be part of the solution for your country and continent.

Remember that God is using this situation to prepare you for greater things. Sometimes, we must walk in unfamiliar shoes to understand the struggles of others. You have work to do, and God will make a way. He will send unexpected help, like Auntie Let, who will appear like an angel in your life.

When you return to school next term, your friends will show you kindness and support. Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. He shall direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6 NKJV).

Remember that God has breathed His Spirit of boldness into you. Be bold in your pursuits and show kindness to everyone you can.

With love,
Lucy
